Peter Weinberger has a 30-year career that has taken him
around the U.S. from California,
the Twin Cities, New York, Boston and Charlotte, NC.
He has filled many roles as an
award winning video and photojournalist.
Weinberger managed and mentored large staffs
as photo and design director at newspapers that include
the Orange County Register, St Paul Pioneer Press
and The Charlotte Observer. In that span,
those publications were honored numerous photography
and design awards by the Society of News Design (SND)
and National Press Photographer Association (NPPA).
The Weinberger family has owned a small community newspaper
in Southern California (Claremont Courier) for 53 years.
In early 2000, Weinberger realized how pictures and video
could be an effective storytelling tool on the Internet.
He recognized how the new medium gave viewers an experience
not realized by television or newspapers.
Weinberger developed multimedia-training programs for the
Charlotte Observer newsroom that included video.
He wrote a syndicated column sharing his expertise
that was published nationally.
As video director for the website Charlotte.com,
he shot and produced hundreds of stories,
all in high-definition video.
Multimedia on the website now routinely gets
over 5,000,000 hits a month.
Peter Weinberger lives in Charlotte, NC,
is married with 2 budding teenagers.
He teaches Sunday school at his local church,
with hobbies that include nature photography.
